Whats crack-a-lackin

Hi people!

It’s been a little while since I made a solid poker blog entry so I figured this update of my blog was over due. This blog should update you with up to date info on what I’m up to/been up to.

Saturday I was at DTD poker venue at Nottingham. Played the £36 Freezeout and bubbled 11th and lost 1BI at £100nl. Just some random cold decks, played one hand bad (£16)and rest was fine. I just lost to variance of the game.
I remember coming back thinking man this sucks how can I lose at live poker. I remembered the last time I was there and lost 2 BI at £100nl. I got totally cold decked all night, played amazing and really should have been stuck tons more than I was, then I just started the hyper-agro bet mode and eventually got caught out 3-barrelling an air-ball vs. turned top two pair.

I had been moping around all day today and decided to do a lifetime graph of all my poker winnings which is very impressive apart from the last 20 months. I don’t think it’s because I have not evolved I think it’s because I stopped caring about money. About 14 months ago I took around $50k off-line when I started to feel my self tilt much easier under the variance that kept on building up.
Having money in a bank is nice but it’s like what Matt Damon says in ‘Rounders’. “You can’t lose what you don’t put in the middle, but you can’t win much either.”
Looking at this graph now maybe I shouldn’t have been such a pussy, maybe I should have kept on playing through the variance/breaking even/losing roll or maybe I made a good choice as the games where starting to get a little tougher which seemed like a lot tougher at the time as I was overwhelmed by my downswing/variance.

I made a decision the other day to not play any cash games on FTP/PS or PP until I have one really good last attempt at my EURO-Challenge. I have always been a strong minded person and when I truly set out to achieve something I accomplish it or die trying.
I will have finished my 16 months of studies next month on August 4th and this seems like the right play for me as I can give poker my full attention and discipline.

I have a few business ideas that I’m talking about with a friend at the moment which are close to materialising so I have a stable plan for the future in case poker doesn’t get any better.

It’s Monday night as I’m writing this in a rainy UK. After all of the hot weather we have been having it seemed inevitable it was going to rain sooner or later!

Off to watch some TV now I’ll leave you with a nice hand I played earlier.
